Assessing Climate Change Vulnerability and Challenges in Agri-Food Production in Gwalior

Abstract

The impact of climate change on rural life and agricultural stability in Gwalior district, Madhya Pradesh, India. Farmers in this region are heavily reliant on climate-sensitive resources, making them vulnerable to even minor environmental changes. The reliance on traditional farming methods and climate-sensitive crops exacerbates the challenges posed by climate change, affecting agricultural production and farmers' livelihoods. The contemporary agricultural practices, which depend on fossil fuels for machinery and inputs, further complicate the situation. The Climate Smart Cities Assessment Framework (CSCAF), part of India's Smart Cities Mission, aims to address these issues. Understanding the effects of climate change on crop yields, soil fertility, and water availability is essential for promoting sustainable agriculture in Gwalior. The analysis of climate change impacts will help assess the sensitivity of crops, soil health, and water systems, providing valuable insights for local farmers and policymakers.
