Abstract

This paper explores the role of William Shakespeare in Indian educational institutions, highlighting his influence on literature, language skills, and emotional intelligence among students. Through a historical lens, it examines how Shakespeare’s works were integrated into the curriculum during the British colonial period and their continued relevance in contemporary Indian society. The study emphasizes the cultural significance of Shakespeare's themes, which resonate deeply with Indian students, facilitating personal and critical engagement. It also addresses the challenges faced, such as language barriers and the overshadowing of local literature, while presenting case studies from various educational institutions to illustrate innovative teaching methods and extracurricular activities.
