Designing Knowledge on Wheels: Foldable Interiors for Vastu-Aligned Pop-Up Libraries
Author : Poonam R Sakariya, Uditi Sandilya and Dr. Nischay N Gowda
Abstract
Pop-up libraries are innovative, temporary structures designed to provide flexible access to books and foster community engagement. This paper explores the integration of two core concepts in the development of such a structure: the use of a foldable mechanism for portability and efficiency, and the application of Vastu Shastra principles for spatial harmony. The study reviews existing literature, examines relevant case studies, and proposes a design model that synergizes both modern engineering and traditional Indian spatial philosophy to create a sustainable, efficient, and culturally attuned pop-up library.
