Assessing public awareness and challenges in child rights protection: A survey-based study in India
Author : G Elangovan and Dr. Vivek Malik
Abstract
This paper presents a survey-based analysis of the public's awareness and perceptions of child rights laws and their implementation in India. The study highlights disparities in understanding and engagement among various socio-economic groups and identifies key socio-cultural and economic barriers to effective child protection. By analysing responses from diverse stakeholders, the paper offers insights into the practical challenges faced in enforcing child rights and suggests strategies for enhancing public engagement and legal compliance. The results of the survey provide valuable information for policymakers and advocates working to improve child rights in India. It is clear that more efforts are needed to educate the public about existing laws and to address the underlying factors contributing to the lack of awareness and compliance. By addressing these barriers and promoting greater public engagement, significant progress can be made in protecting the rights of children in India. The findings of this study can serve as a foundation for future research and policy development in this crucial area.
